Anyone can learn anything.

Including you. Including this. One-on-one tutoring in math, science, economics and test prep, from ninth grade through university.

MUSTAFA ABDUL HAQUE TUTORING

How I teach

Three things I won't compromise on.

Plenty of tutors will take your money for as long as you keep paying. I'd rather tell you the truth and lose the booking.

If I'm not qualified, I'll say so.

I won't pretend to know a subject I don't, and I won't keep a student who isn't getting anywhere with me. If the fit is wrong I'll say so early and help you find someone better. Wasting your money and your time isn't a business model I'm interested in.

No excuses — yours or mine.

However badly school has gone so far, I don't hold it against you. I've worked around ADHD and dysgraphia, and through illness and loss in my own family, and what carried me was refusing to treat any of it as the end of the story. I'll hold you to the same standard and stay with you while you meet it.

Learning is the launchpad, not the destination.

I'm not here to get you a B+ and disappear. Go walk on the moon. Design a drug nobody has managed to make yet. Find a receptor that isn't in the textbook. Understanding the material is where that starts, not where it ends.

Subjects

What I actually teach.

This list is deliberately finite. If what you need isn't on it, ask me anyway and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.

Getting started

How the first month goes.

1

A free consultation

Twenty minutes. You tell me what's going wrong; I tell you whether I'm the right person to fix it.

2

A diagnostic

We find the actual gap. It's usually a year or two further back than the chapter you're stuck on.

3

A plan with a date on it

Goals tied to your exam, grade or course, so we both know whether this is working.

4

Weekly sessions

We review progress honestly as we go. If you stop needing me, that's the point.

About

Mustafa Abdul Haque

I study civil engineering and public policy, with research in infrastructure policy and governance. Most of my week goes on how roads, water systems and public budgets actually work — which turns out to be useful in a tutoring session, because it means I can usually answer the question underneath the question: what is this for?

I teach the way I needed to be taught. I have ADHD and dysgraphia, so I know what it's like to understand an idea completely and still hand in a page that doesn't show it. I know what it's like to keep studying while things at home are falling apart. None of that is a reason to lower the bar — it's a reason to find a route to it that fits the student in front of me.

  • Civil engineering
  • Public policy
  • Infrastructure & governance research
  • Traffic & highway engineering

Learn it properly, then go do something enormous with it.

Let's find out if I can help.

The first conversation is free and there's no obligation after it. If I'm not the right tutor for what you need, I'll say so and point you somewhere better.
